What is Founderguard?

Founderguard is a unique preventative product for Laminitis in horses developed in Australia and sold in the UK under special licence for over a decade. The active ingredient in Founderguard is the antibiotic Virginiamycin.

Laminitis is one of the most serious diseases in horses, ponies and donkeys. It is extremely debilitating and painful. It causes distress for the owners to see their animals suffer.

Currently the VMD requires that Founderguard be supplied under licence (STC) which a veterinary surgeon applies for on behalf of the client. The licence is issued for a period of year and expires at the end of that year or when the quantity approved has been supplied.
